Assistant Fire Chief / Fire Marshal Fred Manding
Born and raised in French Camp I attended French Camp School, Manteca High School, Delta College, Modesto Jr. College and Chabot College. Married with three daughters and two grandchildren.
Started my career in the fire service with the French Camp McKinley Rural Fire Protection District in 1975 as a reserve firefighter; in 1980 became a fulltime firefighter with the fire district until April 1984.
In 1984 I continued my career with the Manteca-Lathrop Fire Protection District as a firefighter rising through the ranks of Firefighter / Engineer, Fire Captain, and Battalion Chief.
In March of 1995 I left Manteca-Lathrop Fire Protection District and pursued a career in Fire Prevention with the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District as a Fire Prevention Specialist. Where I gained the training and experience to move up through the field of fire prevention.
In 2000, I became the Fire Chief for the Clements Fire Protection District until 2002. I took some personal time off from the fire service to pursue some other interest until 2004 when I took a position as a Division Chief (Training) for the Lathrop-Manteca Fire District. In 2006, I was assigned as the Deputy Fire Marshal where I was given the assignment to coordinate plan reviews, plan checks, inspections and development projects.
In 2007, I was promoted to Deputy Chief / Fire Marshal and then in 2008 was asked by the Board of Directors if I would be the Interim Fire Chief.
In 2009 I was promoted to Fire Chief until I retired in August 2010.
August 15 2011, accepted the position for Assistant Chief / Fire Marshal
